Key Responsibilities
As our Head of Trade Policy, you won't just be following policy, you will be setting it. You will be at the heart of decision-making, steering national debates, influencing senior government figures, and representing our members at the highest levels.
- Lead the charge on trade and customs policy, devising forward thinking strategies that support our members and shape national policy.
- Collaborate across the organisation, gathering insights and working alongside experts to deliver cohesive, compelling campaigns.
- Engage key decision-makers, from Whitehall officials to industry leaders, building influential relationships that drive results.
- Produce standout content, from consultation responses and media lines to event speeches and briefing documents.
- Be a voice of authority, both in the media and at major industry events
This is a senior leadership role with line management responsibility for a team of talented policy professionals. You will coach, develop, and empower them while overseeing key councils and working groups to ensure member views are heard and represented.
Requirements
- A degree (or equivalent experience) with exceptional communication skills, persuasive, articulate, and confident in front of any audience.
- Proven ability to influence public policy, ideally with a background in trade or customs.

- Experience in managing people and budgets, with a keen eye for strategic delivery.
- Flexibility to travel regularly for meetings and events.
Desirable But Not Essential
- Experience in transport, trade, customs, or a similar policy heavy environment.
- A track record in shaping high impact policy in business, government, or trade associations
